Buying your first gaming monitor? Check these tips!

You are new to gaming and want to have a complete setup at home. One of the foremost and important things that you would buy is a gaming monitor. There are literally endless models to choose from, and websites like PrimeCables.ca have some really good options under $500k. Before you go ahead and pick a product, here are some tips and basic aspects that may come in handy.

  1. Go for better resolution.  Higher the resolution of the gaming monitor, the better picture quality you can expect. At the least, a good product should have Full HD resolution, although 4k is the new norm.
  2. Don’t go for a huge one. Many new gaming enthusiasts believe that big monitors are always better, which isn’t the case. Large monitors with low pixel-density can affect your experience. The sweet spot for gaming monitor screen size is somewhere between 27 and 32-inch. Remember that you need to have complete look of the screen to play better, and therefore, a big screen doesn’t always serve the purpose.
  3. Check the refresh rate. This is the number of times the image on the screen is refreshed, and by far, the feature matters the most for gaming monitors. At the least, look for 60 Hz refresh rate for such monitors, while bigger is always better. Similar, the response time of the gaming monitor should be as short as possible.
  4. Pick the right panel. TN panels are usually better than IPS and VA panels when it comes to gaming in particular. However, if you are a fan of better contrast, go for a VA panel. TN panels are typically cheaper and are just ideal for gaming, given that you get quality display and response, although color production is not the best.
  5. Don’t spend on a curved monitor. There is no denying that curved gaming monitors do offer a more immersive experience, but you are also likely to spend a lot more. Instead, look for the aspect ratio. Typical aspect ratio is 16:9, but with 21:9 ratio, you may have a good experience.

Buying online

If you want the best gaming monitors in budget, online stores are your best bet, and you can find a wide range of choices, depending on how much you wish to spend. Just make sure that you have checked all the features before placing an order, including warranty on the product.
